Bike marking

Register your bike online to help reduce the chances of theft.

BikeRegister is the UK’s leading online bicycle identification and registration initiative, aiming to reduce cycle theft, identify stolen bikes and assist in owner recovery.

Sussex Police and officers from forces across the UK are using BikeRegister as their preferred bike marking product in ongoing campaigns against bike theft.

With the development of online auction and sales sites, BikeRegister has become a valuable resource in allowing purchasers to quickly check the details of bikes they are considering purchasing to see if there is a record of it having been stolen.

There is no charge to register your bike, but there is a small charge if you wish to purchase a warning sticker (optional). Bronze, Silver, and Gold marking kits are also available, and these have additional security features.

Once the unique BikeRegister marking is applied to the bike frame details of the owner and their bike are placed on BikeRegister.com and a logbook can be downloaded as proof of ownership.

This registration helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owners of bikes, and increases the chance of reuniting stolen bikes with their rightful owners.

Your local Community Safety Partnership may also run bike marking events. For further details visit your local district or borough council website or Sussex Police's Protect your bike from theft.
