How to dispose of wood.

A pile of planks of wood

  • Which RC container

    Use the wood container.

  • Which RC accept this waste

All our recycling centres accept wood.

  • Further information

Blue or red pallets cannot be disposed of at RCs. The dye used to colour the pallets is toxic which means they cannot be recycled. Also, because they are company owned and rented out, they are commercial waste. Blue pallets, known as CHEP or GKN CHEP pallets, are owned by CHEP. Red pallets are owned by LPR.

Sleepers cannot be disposed of at RCs because of the way they have been treated. This material can be popular second hand, so if you are able, you could sell or donate them for reuse. Alternatively, you will need to contact a private company who will be able to dispose of these for you.
