How to dispose of Japanese knotweed.

Japanese knotweed must not be disposed of in your general waste, garden waste, or composter at home and you cannot take it to recycling centres.

  • Important information

    • Japanese knotweed is a very invasive weed and highly damaging to the built and natural environment. It is therefore not accepted at any RC in West Sussex. Any soils within a 7 metre radius surrounding Japanese knotweed will also not be accepted at any RC.
    • Management of Japanese knotweed is subject to strict controls and regulated by the Environment Agency.
