Trading Standards Enforcement Policy

Trading Standards is an intelligence led, risk-assessed Service committed to protecting consumers and providing support to the business community with an emphasis on preventative measures.

We aim to promote an efficient and effective approach to regulation which improves the market place and provides a fair trading environment for customers and businesses without imposing unreasonable burdens.

In order to ensure that our approach to our enforcement activities is clear we have published our Enforcement Policy here. It is in two parts, the first contains details of the principles under which we work and how we approach enforcement. The second gives explanations of the various enforcement options available to us.
