Sufficiency update

How to complete the termly sufficiency update form.

A termly sufficiency update is mandatory for all early years and childcare providers, through which you tell us the number of places and the number of vacancies you have.

After you complete your first update, you can copy a previous term’s data and amend only the figures that have changed, saving you time.

You may submit or edit your data at any point of a term before it ends, at which point the data is locked and a new term opens.

The data you give us:

  • is not shared with parents looking for childcare
  • enables us to carry out our statutory duty to report on and analyse sufficiency of childcare in West Sussex
  • helps ensure that new provision is directed to areas where there is demand for places
  • can reduce unnecessary direct competition.
