How to refer children and young people for emotional wellbeing and mental health support.

The ‘Children and young people emotional wellbeing and mental health GP referral pathway’ should be followed by GPs to ensure that referrals for children and young people are made to the most appropriate service.

Refer to the pathway below:

GP referral pathway (PDF 157KB)

The pathway describes the core services available to children and young people. They range from universal help to specialist services required by those who are suffering, or likely to suffer, significant harm.

Services comprise of the Early Help Children’s Services (formerly known as Integrated Prevention and Earliest Help (IPEH)), Youth Emotional Support service (YES), Child and Adult Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and The Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).

Additional guidance and service-specific referral forms are available below:

Information regarding all commissioned emotional wellbeing support services in West Sussex is available in the ‘Map of children and young people’s mental health services’ on the NHS Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group website.
