Highways England’s major programme of work to upgrade the M23 motorway near Gatwick Airport is now underway. The main construction work, started in June 2018, is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2020.
The two-year project will be carried out between Junction 8 at Merstham and Junction 10 at Copthorne.
When finished it will see the motorway expand from three to four lanes to help ease congestion, provide safer journeys and allow for the introduction of advanced technology to improve traffic flow.
The project has been carefully planned to try and minimise impact on traffic, however drivers should expect some disruption with minimal delays.
