A Crawley-based hub for young people is celebrating its new home close to the town centre in Centenary House.

The FindItOut drop-in centre is a free service for 13-25 year olds and has experienced workers on hand to offer support and advice around most issues affecting young people.

The Crawley base - one of eight in the county - has free internet access and is now located in Woodfield Road.

It offers advice on employment and training, family and relationships, health, housing and homelessness, legal issues and personal finance as well as a comprehensive sexual health service.

Stephen Hillier, West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Our FindItOut centres are also a place where young people can access free emotional support. This support comes from the YES (Youth Emotional Support) Service which also links in with an amazing group of 11 to 18 year olds who tackle the stigma around mental health called Free Your Mind.

“The team is always on hand to help any young person who needs it. Volunteers also play a large role at our FindItOut centres for which we are very grateful. And even when they can’t help, they will do their best to put them in touch with somebody who can.”

Crawley’s FindItOut centre is having a celebration event on 14 November from 3.30pm to 5.30pm which will include a visit from the Crawley Mayor, Youth Mayor and local councillors.

Parents and young people are invited to the event to meet the FindItOut team and partner agencies to find out what support is available.

The FindItOut centre’s normal opening hours are 1pm to 5pm Monday to Thursday.
