Release date: 11 October 2019
Local people are invited to attend a care recruitment event at Worthing Assembly Hall on Wednesday 23 October 2019. Over 20 care providers will be at the informal event to talk to people about current job opportunities in the care sector.
A range of roles are available including care assistants, personal assistants, activity co-ordinators, kitchen porters and receptionists. Jobs can be based in care homes, day centres or supporting people in their own homes.
West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member, Amanda Jupp, said: “Working in care is one of the most rewarding careers anyone can do. It offers variety, flexibility and lots of interaction with people who need care. Work that improves a person’s quality of life, health and overall wellbeing is tremendously satisfying.”
There are huge opportunities for career progression and hours can be flexible to suit a variety of lifestyles. People from all backgrounds are invited to come along to the event regardless of whether they have experience in care work, as full training and support will be given.
Amanda continued: “We’re keen to meet people that have worked in various industries including retail, customer service or any roles that involve working directly with people. Anyone that has personal experience of caring for a loved one may also have the skills required for care work. Being respectful, patient, caring and reliable are the most important qualities needed to succeed in a job in care.”
With around 85 care service providers in Worthing, the care industry is a significant employer in the area.
The drop-in event is hosted by Proud to Care West Sussex, an initiative from West Sussex County Council, which promotes the wide range of jobs in the care sector across the county. Proud to Care is currently advertising over 100 job vacancies in the Worthing area on their website www.proudtocarewestsussex.com
The event takes place on Wednesday 23 October 2019 at Worthing Assembly Hall on Stoke Abbott Road, Worthing, BN11 1HQ. Anyone can come along at any time between 10.00am and 2.00pm to find out about a rewarding career in care.
