Work starts soon to resurface a section of West Street, Chichester

'We will do all we can to keep the inconvenience to a minimum'

Release date: 6 February 2018

A section of West Street in Chichester will be closed to traffic for two nights during resurfacing work.

The road, from Orchard Street roundabout to the junction with Tower Street, will be closed from 8pm to 6am on February 16 and 17.

The work is being carried out overnight to try to limit overall disruption as much as possible. Vehicles will be able to continue to drive over the surface outside of the closure times and pedestrian access will not be affected.

Parking in the section of road will be suspended for the whole two days and nights and bus diversions will be in place.

Bob Lanzer, West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Highways and Infrastructure, said: “We respect the fact there is a mix of business and some residential properties in this area and unfortunately there will be some noise and disruption, for which we apologise. We will do all we can to keep the inconvenience to a minimum.”
