West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet will meet in public on Tuesday 3 December at 10.30am at County Hall Chichester.
The meeting is the first in a new schedule of regular meetings, which will be open for members of the public to attend and will also be webcast.
The Cabinet will consider the Council’s proposed new Electric Vehicle Strategy, which is designed to help improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions by encouraging people to switch to an electric vehicle.
The Cabinet will also consider the following proposals to help manage the County Council’s budget for next year and to limit the pressure on services:
• Creation of additional Special Support Centres for children with special educational needs to help children stay in mainstream schools closer to home and reduce the number of expensive placements outside of the county.
• Changes to some library services including opening hours at some locations.
• Confirm areas of support from a reduced Local Assistance Network (LAN) fund.
• To withdraw the existing funding system for District and Borough councils and create a dedicated fund to stimulate new ways to reduce household waste and/or increase recycling.
Further information can be found in the agenda papers.
The Cabinet is considering the strategic budget decisions as it works towards balancing its budget for 2020/21.
