Released: 10 September 2020
Applications will be open until Saturday 31 October 2020 and the quickest and easiest way to apply and find more information is online. Applying for a secondary school place online is quick and simple, and an automatic email will acknowledge that the application has been received.
Free use of computers with internet access is available in all West Sussex libraries, though due to Covid-19 restrictions advanced booking is necessary. Those unable to apply online can request a form through the post by calling 03330 142903.
It’s important that applications are made on time – missing the deadline will seriously affect the chances of a child being offered one of the preferred choices.
Some things to consider when applying:
• We recommend you read all the advice on the West Sussex County Council school admissions webpages.
• Parents are encouraged to apply for up to three schools and should list them in order of preference.
• A child is not guaranteed a place at a school just because they are in the catchment area. Parents will need to select the catchment school as part of their application for it to be considered.
• Those who miss the deadline for applications must still submit an application form, as a child will not automatically be allocated a school.
Nigel Jupp, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills said: “The move from primary to secondary school is a significant and exciting one for children and their families. I would strongly advise parents and carers to make contact with schools they are thinking of applying for and visit the school’s website.
“To help us make the process as smooth as possible, applications should be submitted on time so that our Admissions Team has the best opportunity to meet your preferences. If you have any questions about the admissions process, please don’t hesitate to contact us so that we can help.”
Primary or junior school applications for September 2021 open on Monday 5 October 2020 and close on Friday 15 January 2021.
