Speed Limit Proposals in Arundel and Tortington Residential Areas

If the proposals go ahead, the changes will take place as soon as practicable between April 2018 and March 2019.

Proposals to lower the speed limit in three residential areas in Arundel and Tortington are available to view online.

The changes to the speed limits have been drawn up by West Sussex County Council following a request from Arundel Town Council to review the speed limits in the area.

The proposals include:

• Lowering the speed limit in Arundel and Tortington residential areas to 20mph – currently 30mph
• Lowering the speed limit in The Causeway to 30mph – currently 40mph
• Lowering the speed limit in Mill Road between High Street and Swanbourne Lodge to 30mph – currently the National Speed Limit

Recent traffic data shows that these changes would be realistic and meet the expectations within the County Council’s current speed limit policy.

A Statutory Consultation will be open for people to formally lodge their support or objections for 21 days from 11 January to 1 February 2018.

If the proposals go ahead, the changes will take place as soon as practicable between April 2018 and March 2019.

There will also be additional speed limit signs placed within the altered areas and the existing speed limit signs will be replaced.
