West Sussex County Council has adopted the West Sussex Transport Plan (WSTP) 2022-2036 and it is now available to view.

The WSTP is the County Council’s main policy on transport and supports delivery of Our Council Plan and its priorities. It will guide the County Council’s approach to the improvement and maintenance of the transport network to address key challenges, including:

  • transport emissions and impacts on climate change
  • economic performance
  • road safety
  • public health and well-being
  • the needs of a growing and ageing population
  • congestion
  • rural isolation

The key change made to the Plan following consultation on a draft in summer 2020, was the inclusion of a commitment to set a decarbonisation target. We are expecting the Department for Transport to issue guidance soon on how local transport authorities should approach this task.

We would like to thank everyone who gave their valued feedback during the consultation, which helped to shape the final version of the Plan.

The adopted West Sussex Transport Plan is now available online and can be viewed at https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/ltp

Paper copies are available in all West Sussex libraries.
