From financial advice to what's going on in the local area, residents in Midhurst and Petworth are being invited to an event to meet their local services.

It is hoped that the Big Hello Community Event will prevent people living in the county’s more rural areas from feeling disconnected from their services.

The event has been organised by the Communities Team at West Sussex County Council that is actively trying to support the local community.

Debbie Kennard, Cabinet Member for Safer, Stronger Communities, said: “The event is to help local residents become more aware of local services and activities available to them. We hope it will also tackle any feelings of isolation which can be problematic in small towns and villages.

“On the day, people will get the chance to pop into the marketplace area, stroll round the stalls and find out new things about their local area. There will also be a walking football mini tournament to promote active lifestyles.”

The Big Hello Community Event is being held on Wednesday August 30 from 1pm to 4.30pm at The Grange, in Midhurst.

Services at the event, being sponsored by Q Hair and Beauty, will include Chichester District Council, Citizens Advice, Cowdray Estate, Department for Work & Pensions, Everyone Active, the Midhurst Museum, South Downs National Park, Sussex NHS Community Foundation, Weald and Downland Museum, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, West Sussex Library Service and UKHarvest.
