Worthing Library users can expect big improvements to their service when refurbishment work is completed in five weeks’ time.

The library will remain open, but there will be restricted access to certain areas while the essential work takes place. Customers will be able to order in any items of stock that are inaccessible due to the building work free of charge.

Regular activities will continue, although their locations within the Library may change. Talks and events that have been arranged will continue including a special programme of events celebrating Worthing Library’s 40th birthday in November, although Baby Rhyme Time on Tuesday 27 October has been cancelled.

Outdated lighting is being replaced, with a new ceiling being put in to accommodate the replacement lighting, as well as redecoration and a new carpet throughout the lending library.

The children’s library, teenage, non-fiction and crime fiction are the first areas affected.

From 22 October there will be reduced access to computers in lending, although computers in the Reference Library will still be available.

Adult fiction, large print, biographies, audio books, CDs and DVDs will be affected from 26 October for approximately three weeks.
