Plans for a new community hub for Worthing have taken a big step forward with the confirmation that Worthing Library will close at the end of March for the fitout works to begin.
A temporary library will be opened at 37 Richmond Road, Worthing, while the main library is shut for the works.
It is planned for Worthing Library main building to close at the end of Saturday 28 March. The temporary library building will open to the public on Tuesday 31 March.
West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Fire and Rescue and Communities, Duncan Crow, said: “This is an exciting step forward in our plans to provide a Community Hub in Worthing town centre. The hub will bring together library, children’s and youth, and registration services all under one roof for residents.
“The designs for the new hub are really exciting and will provide a modern, innovative space for all our residents and customers to visit and enjoy.”
The fitout works to turn the main library building into a community hub are expected to begin in April, with the new Worthing Community Hub planned to open in October.
