Charities, clubs, organisations and other groups are encouraged to pitch for a West Sussex County Council grant during their final funding window of 2018/19.

Release date: 4 December 2018

Charities, clubs, organisations and other groups are encouraged to pitch for a West Sussex County Council grant during their final funding window of 2018/19.

Groups have until 14 January 2019 to apply for a share of the Community Initiative Fund (CIF) using the West Sussex Crowd.

This online crowdfunding platform has already helped worthwhile projects across the county raise more than £170,000.

The county council has so far awarded 25 successful crowdfunding campaigns with more than £49,500 courtesy of the CIF.

A guide hut in Hassocks and a horticulture project in Selsey both benefitted at the last round of funding, receiving £4,000 between them from the county council.

Debbie Kennard, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Safer, Stronger Communities, said: “It’s fantastic to see such a variety of projects choose West Sussex Crowd and reach their crowdfunding targets with support from our Community Initiative Fund.

“Leading up to the festive period and into the new year, there’s one final chance for groups to pitch for community funding and deliver their projects from spring 2019.

“If you’re involved in an existing community project or have a new idea you want heard, pick up the phone and find out if you’re eligible - call 033 022 25075.”

The county council’s Community Initiative Fund has replaced its previous funding initiatives including the Small Grants Fund and the Members’ Big Society Fund.

Crowdfunding campaigns must have started fundraising by 24 January 2019 in order to be considered by the CIF.

Pitches received by the deadline will be reviewed at the next round of County Local Committees taking place in February and March next year.
