Released: 16 April 2019
West Sussex County Council is now accepting applications from employers seeking funding for apprenticeship training.
As of April 2019, employers paying into the Apprenticeship Levy can now transfer up to 25% of their annual levy funding pot to other organisations which will pay for the training costs of apprenticeship qualifications.
These changes mean that West Sussex County Council can support organisations in West Sussex to boost the skills and knowledge of new and existing employees across the county. Applications close on 31 May.
Applications are welcomed from:
- businesses and organisations based in the county serving West Sussex residents
- the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector in West Sussex serving West Sussex residents
- West Sussex schools that do not pay into the council's apprenticeship levy
Cathy McDonnell, Commissioning Manager of the Apprenticeship Team said: “We are thrilled that we can now share some of our levy funding with other organisations across the county. Apprenticeship training is a fantastic way for employers across West Sussex to train and upskill staff that they currently employ or new staff joining them.”
West Sussex County Council is keen to receive applications from the following sectors: social care, STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths), construction, tourism, community, digital and SEND (special education needs and disability).
Applications must align with the West Sussex Plan and Economic Growth Plan.
The deadline for applications is 31 May 2019 and you can find out more about the criteria and apply.
