Good causes in the Downland Arun area are being reminded to get their funding applications in by next Friday [21 October].

More than £10,000 of funding has already been awarded to local community projects in 2016/17 by the Joint Downland Area Committee. There is now £9,500 left for new applications.

The Joint Downland Area Committee covers Arundel and the surrounding villages, The Six Villages and Findon.

At its meeting on 26 September, committee members awarded Community Initiative Funding to three local organisations:

• BLADE (Barnham Leisure Amenities Development Enterprise) - £699.11 for two litter bins
• Slindon Coronation Hall - £1,865.70 towards a replacement dishwasher
• Walberton, Binsted and Fontwell Community Web Site Team - £556 towards training and development costs for new website

Community groups and small local charities are being encouraged to apply for the next round of funding which needs to be submitted by 21 October.

They will be considered at the next meeting on 21 November 2016 at 7pm at The White Swan Hotel, in Arundel.

During the last Joint Downland Area Committee meeting, members also looked at recent applications for Traffic Regulation Orders. This included a scheme to extend double yellow lines in Torton Hill Road, Arundel.

Members agreed to progress the scheme which will proceed to a design and consultation phase early next year.
