We are a team of experienced educators who work with children and young people with autism and special education needs. We offer academic support; social and emotional skills teaching as well as life skills. We believe when a relationship is built between two people, confidence is boosted through recognising and celebrating small achievements. We focus on a person's strengths as a way to build skills and knowledge so our students enjoy what they are learning in a calm and focused environment.

What we do

  • Functional life skills are essential for young people with autism to increase their independence, confidence and self esteem in their everyday lives at home, at school and in the community. We work alongside young people to develop and build these.
  • We work to help young people understand and manage their emotions, and also to help them be more positive about themselves.
  • We focus on a person's strengths as a way to build skills and knowledge so our students enjoy what they are learning in a calm and focused environment.
  • Tuition provided for all learners, including those who are not attending school for any reason, or are intending to return.
  • Maeve is a qualified and experienced primary school teacher across all year groups at primary level. She has experience teaching Maths and English for KS3 and GCSE as well as Functional Skills Maths and English as well as 11+ and 13+.

Our users say

Maeve has been absolutely fantastic for our daughter. I have only 1 regret about Maeve - I wish we'd met her a long time before we did. I feel very grateful to have her in our support system for our daughter and would highly recommend More Than Words.
