We deal with planning applications for:
- waste - for example, recycling and other waste processing sites, and sewage treatment plants
- minerals - for example, quarries and oil/gas sites
- the County Council's own development (known as Regulation 3) - for example, schools, libraries and fire stations.

The South Downs National Park Authority deals with all applications within the national park. All other applications are dealt with by the district or borough council.

The Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended) requires the determination of planning applications to be a transparent public process. As a planning authority, we are required to provide a publicly-available register of planning application details.
