**British Newspaper Archive - Regional historical newspapers from the British Library collection. You will first need to register with the British Newspaper Archive. When you next log in, you will be able to access the archive and a personal 'My Research' area.

*COBRA - The Complete Business Reference Adviser. It is a continually expanding business database with information about starting and running a small business with access to around 4,000 factsheets, market reports, contacts, funding resources and help and support.


*Dictionary of National Biography - Information on over 60,000 people from around the world who have helped to shape Britain's past.


**EMIS - Emerging Markets Information Service information platform. EMIS provides a unique blend of analysis, data and news on companies, industries and countries in eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

EMIS licenses content from leading sources of company and industry intelligence and combine with a database of over 6.6 Million companies, M&A information and country level research.

You can have up to 10 reports and up to 250 companies in list form per day.

Family Information Service - Search for childcare or family activities and support.

Find a job (formerly Universal Jobmatch) - Search and apply for full or part-time jobs in Great Britain.

**Find My Past - Trace your ancestry and build a family tree by researching extensive UK birth records, census data, obituaries and more. Please note that our subscription does not include access to the British Newspaper Archive.

**GrantFinder - A database for all types funding including loans, awards and grants to help local companies succeed and grow. Local entrepreneurs can search independently through the thousands of funds available to them. These include:

  • European Union and Government programmes
  • regional schemes

  • prestigious business award competitions.

**IBIS world - Our subscription to IBIS world provides:

  • industry market research for the UK, Ireland and general global reports
  • industry risk ratings
  • analysis of hundreds of industries including risk scores and revenue forecasts.

*MyWorkSearch - Online toolkit that helps jobseekers find job opportunities. Also contains a job finder and a CV builder. You will need to sign up in the library for an individual account to access this resource.

*Oxford Dictionary of family names in Britain and Ireland - Provides definitions and historical usage of all surnames. It is available through Oxford Reference. You will need to sign in with your library card number when using this resource from home.

*Oxford English Dictionary - The history of the English language and its usage.

*Oxford Reference - Over 300 reference works including dictionaries, quotations, thesauri, timelines, maps, flags and encyclopaedias.
