Refreshments volunteers (Chichester)

Help with refreshments at the Wrenford day centre and socialise with the people who attend.

We are looking for volunteers to make pots of tea, cups of coffee and glasses of squash for people attending the Wrenford day centre.

Wrenford is a specialist day centre for adults with learning difficulties and is located on the industrial estate in Terminus Road, Chichester.

Role description

Skills required

  • Be able to empathise and chat with day centre customers who have complex needs.
  • Work alongside day centre staff and other volunteers.
  • Make a selection of hot and cold drinks for a large group of people.
  • Ability to clear away, use a dishwasher and tidy drinks area.

Ideal volunteer

Our ideal volunteer enjoys interacting with customers, staff and other volunteers, is patient and understanding and confident in making a large number of drinks.

Details of duties

Making a selection of drinks, serving customers, clearing away and chatting with customers as appropriate.

Regularity of duties

Serving refreshments takes place for one hour in the morning (10.15am to 11.15am) and one hour in the afternoon (2.15pm to 3.15pm), Monday to Friday. Volunteers may choose which session/s on the rota they prefer by arrangement, which could be a single session or more.

Guidance and support

Volunteers will receive ongoing guidance and support from an assigned member of staff, as well as regular three-monthly supervision sessions. They may also have a mentor assigned from the team of staff if desired.

Training and equipment

Volunteers will receive a formal introductory session before beginning their role. Appropriate additional training will also be available as required.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

Volunteers will not be required to have a DBS check before starting.

References

Volunteers will be required to provide two references before starting the volunteering role.
