Activities volunteer (Shoreham)

Assist people with a physical, sensory or memory impairment with general day centre activities at Glebelands day centre.

Glebelands day centre in Shoreham-by-Sea provides a wide range of activities for people who have a physical, sensory or memory impairment, or an acquired brain injury. The centre is currently seeking a volunteer to work alongside a member of staff, assisting customers with a variety of activities.

Role description

Ideal volunteer

Our ideal volunteer enjoys mixing with a diverse group of people, is patient and understanding, and positive and encouraging.

Details of duties

Supporting customers in activities that are run at the centre in the form of group work or one-to-one sessions. Activities can include games, reminiscence and music sessions and circle dance.

Regularity of duties

This could be either a morning or afternoon session on a weekday. Each session is approximately an hour to an hour and a half in length.

Guidance and support

A member of staff will be available at all times during the volunteering sessions.

Training and equipment

Volunteers will receive a formal introductory session before beginning their role. Any equipment required for the activities will be provided by the centre.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

Volunteers will not be required to have a DBS check before undertaking the role.


Volunteers will be required to provide two references before undertaking the role. They will also need to attend a short interview.
