Volunteer to coach The Pines day centre customers in drumming.

The Pines day centre in Durrington near Worthing provides a wide range of activities for adults with learning disabilities. We are looking for someone to coach and support groups of adults with learning disabilities in the art of drumming together.

Role description

Skills required

An ability to drum and teach adults with learning disabilities to develop rhythms together, using a variety of drums.

Ideal volunteer

A volunteer who enjoys collective drumming sessions, preferably with a local knowledge of others likely to support this venture.

Details of duties

  • To spend a few hours playing and coaching different drumming styles.
  • To inspire drummers at the day centre to improve their skills to play together.
  • To liaise with other local drummers to encourage further community involvement.

Regularity of duties

One morning or afternoon a week at the day centre.

Guidance and support

The centre’s trainer will liaise with the volunteer and provide guidance and support as required.

Training and equipment

Volunteers will receive a formal introductory session before undertaking the role.

Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS)

Volunteers will not be required to have a DBS check before undertaking the role.


Volunteers will be required to provide one reference before undertaking the role.
