General description of duties
The volunteer will be required to clean two fish tanks every month, including the glass, stones and filters, at the centre.
An understanding of how to clean a tropical fish tank and ensure good health of the fish.
Our ideal volunteer will be interested in fish and also enjoy mixing with a wide range of people who use the centre.
Details of duties
Each stage of cleaning a fish tank, including:
- removing fish from tanks and placing in a safe receptacle
- removing water from tanks
- cleaning the filter and stones
- cleaning glass inside and out
- refilling tank using product provided to ensure water is safe for fish
- returning fish safely to the tanks.
Regularity of duties
Approximately once a month.
Guidance and support
Centre staff will be available at all times during volunteering.
Training and equipment
An introductory session will be provided which will include a general overview of the centre and the location of the tanks and cleaning equipment.
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks
Those applying for this role will not be asked to complete a DBS check.
No reference will be requested for this role.
