Waste prevention

Think before you throw and help save millions of pounds being spent unnecessarily on waste.

  • Want to know more about recycling, reducing waste or composting?
  • Would you like to visit our recycling site or our waste facility?
  • Interested in having a recycling expert give a talk or workshop at your school or community group?

Everyone can do at least one thing to help

Educating people on how they can limit their waste means we can cut the amount we are throwing away, which is better for the environment, and reduce the amount of money being spent on processing household waste. Money that should - and could - be spent on core services in our county.

For this reason, we created our Think before you throw website. It offers West Sussex residents information and ideas on how to recycle more and waste less.

Our team also have a dedicated group of waste prevention volunteers who visit community groups, primary schools and workplaces. They also conduct tours at our Ford recycling facility, actively promoting waste prevention throughout West Sussex.
