Social care casual bank

Find out how to sign up to our social care casual bank.

1 About the social care casual bank

The social care casual bank is an in-house service used when there is a need for additional support on an ad-hoc basis.

It is used by our teams across children’s and adults' social care services and our occupational therapy teams.

Whether you have lots of experience in different teams, are a specialist in a particular area or if you're still finding your feet, the bank could be the right opportunity for you.

Our bank offers you flexibility to work when it suits you, so is perfect if you have other priorities that your work needs to fit around.

Whatever it is you’re looking for, joining the casual bank is a great way to combine paid work with total flexibility. You will receive an induction, as well as being paid the same rate as our contracted staff.

Some examples of assignments that have been completed by staff on the social care casual bank include:

  • special guardianship assessments
  • emergency duty team
  • viability assessments
  • comprehensive assessments
  • together or apart assessments
  • out of county visits
  • completion of S.7 and S.37 reports
  • adopter assessments
  • needs assessments of adopted children
  • pre-birth assessments
  • step parent adoption assessments
  • MASH enquiries
  • Form F assessments
  • life story work
  • assessment reviews
  • safeguarding enquiries
  • mental capacity act assessments.

Once you have completed all of the necessary pre-employment checks and mandatory induction, including Mosaic (database) training, you will then be sent any new assignments that managers have submitted to the casual bank.

If you are interested in completing an assignment, there will be a discussion between you and the manager or case holding social worker to explain the details and ensure the assignment is suitable for you.

The first day of your assignment will be confirmed and the casual bank coordinator will arrange your IT access/hardware and access door token.
