Local Flood Risk Management Strategy

Read the 2013 strategy which outlines the risks from flooding and our responsibilities in managing that risk.

The Flood and Water Management Act 2010 required county councils to lead the coordination of flood risk. We are the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) for the area.

Our strategy, produced in 2013, focuses on:

  • the risks of flooding from surface water, groundwater and ordinary watercourses but also considers flooding from rivers and the seas
  • clarification on which authority is responsible for what in relation to the management of flood risk
  • the defined role of West Sussex County Council as LLFA.
