The Flood and Water Management Act 2010 required county councils to lead the coordination of flood risk. We are the Lead Local Authority (LLFA) for the area.
The strategy, produced in 2013, focuses on:
- the risks of flooding from surface water, groundwater and ordinary watercourses but also considers flooding from rivers and the seas
- clarification on which authority is responsible for what in relation to the management of flood risk
- the defined role of West Sussex County Council as the LLFA.
