Leaving care: Your voice matters

Find out about the opportunities available and how to get involved.

The Care Leavers Executive Group is a group of West Sussex care leavers who meet on a virtual basis. Joining in gives you the chance to be involved in having your voice heard and having your say about services that you have either experienced, or feel passionate about.

Your views will make a real difference to a range of services for care leavers, ultimately changing things because of what care leavers say!

There are lots of different ways to get involved, such as:

  • running training courses for professionals
  • attending national events
  • contributing to policies
  • social events
  • making videos for professionals and the public.

Previously, the group has been involved in making a mental health video to improve staff understanding of issues, helping run Christmas events, improving the leaving care helpline, helping interview new staff and speaking to care leavers on a range of different topics.

If you would like to get involved in the group and any other opportunities, let your personal advisor know, or email voice@westsussex.gov.uk.
