Libraries

Libraries have much more than just books! Discover events, activities, volunteering opportunities and more.

Your local library offers: 

  • lots of books for information or pleasure
  • free online reference resources, such as Encyclopaedia Britannica, which can be used for school or college work
  • graphic novels
  • access to free Wi-Fi
  • DVDs, Blu Rays and music CDs
  • free digital books, magazines and newspapers
  • computers
  • Headspace area for teenagers at Crawley Library. 

Some libraries also have reading groups, rhyme times and story times for younger children, exhibitions, events and activities

If you live, study or work in West Sussex you can join the library for free. 

Volunteer in a library

Volunteering in a library is a great way to get experience to put on your CV, meet new people and learn new skills. There are a range of volunteering opportunities including: 

  • Children's Services volunteer
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteer
  • Summer Reading Challenge volunteer.
