Find out about and search for apprenticeships.

An apprenticeship is where you combine working full-time with studying towards a qualification, with the advantage of earning a wage whilst getting work experience.

Levels of an apprenticeship

There are four levels of apprenticeship:

  • Intermediate - Level 2, equivalent 5 GCSE passes at level A to C
  • Advanced - Level 3, equivalent to 2 A Level passes
  • Higher - Level 4, equivalent to a foundation degree
  • Degree - Level 6 and 7, equivalent to a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.

Depending on the level you choose, an apprenticeship can take between one to four years to complete.

Who can apply

To apply for an apprenticeship you need to:

  • be 16 or over
  • not be in full-time education
  • have the right to live and work in the UK.

You can also apply if you hold a degree, as long as the apprenticeship qualification is different from your degree subject.
