Applications for travel from the start of September

This application form is for the academic year 2020/21 only. Please do not apply now for the academic year starting from September.

A new form for 2021/22 will be available here from May and the deadline for applications will be 4 July. The contribution for 2021/22 will be £658 and this is waived for families who are assessed as being on a low income.

Parents will need to plan how their students will get to school/college for the start of term.

If you need help filling out the form you can ask your school or college. Alternatively please contact the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Advice and Support Service (SENDIAS) on 033 022 28555.

We may be able to offer help to sixth form age students with SEND, who are attending a school or college from September 2020. Normally, you will have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to be entitled to help.

We do not provide travel assistance for higher education courses.

Assistance provided may be a rail or bus pass, contribution towards the cost of travel, or in exceptional circumstances, a taxi/minibus.

You must make a new application each year even if you currently receive transport.

The contribution for academic year 2020/21 is £651 and can be paid in instalments. If you are assessed as having low income there may be no charge.

You will need to have the following documentation available before you start:

- course code and title

- low income evidence if applicable.

If you are considered eligible for travel assistance, please note that it will not be provided unless one of the following is completed:

- evidence of low income is submitted at the time of application

- a payment options form is completed and returned. This form will be sent to you following your application.
