Our vision for the future is to reach out to people in their communities to help support their independence and quality of life. We've run trials in four areas of West Sussex, to test out a new approach to supporting residents who have adult social care needs. We have been meeting people, their families and carers in local settings to talk about the support they need.
'Talk Local' sessions enable our local teams to start a conversation with you about any help or support you, a family member or friend may need to live independently.
If you live in one of the four areas below, please look at the tabs in this section for your area, where you can find out when the next Talk Local sessions are running.
Here are some examples of areas that you can get information and advice about:
- ideas on how to get out and about
- what groups and activities there are for you to take part in
- support if you are a family or friend carer
- making sure you keep safe and well
- what help you could get at home
- how much it costs for care and how to pay for it.
If you are unable to leave your home, for example due to illness or a disability, please contact our Adults’ CarePoint on 01243 642121 or email: email@example.com. We will discuss your situation with you and we'll arrange to visit you if necessary.
This new approach is based on local and national best practice, and we’ve taken account of what our customers and carers have told us about their past experiences. This gives us confidence that we will deliver real benefits to local people.
We have been testing out the new way of working in the communities and people have been asked to comment on their experience of the new model, to help shape the future of social care in West Sussex.
The four innovation sites across the county we've been testing the approach in are:
- Sompting and Lancing
- West Crawley: Broadfield, Bewbush, Ifield and Gossops Green
- Chichester Rural: Petworth, Midhurst, Pulborough, Loxwood and Billingshurst
- East Grinstead.
