LEADER funding for rural organisations

Providing capital grants to support new jobs and business growth in rural communities

LEADER is a grant scheme available to farmers, foresters, small businesses and community groups based in rural West Sussex, Lewes District and Hayling Island.

Grants are available for capital investments for projects that will create jobs and grow the rural economy.

So far, £1.1 million has been committed to 34 projects in the region, creating at least 38 full-time jobs over the next three years.

Two Local Action Groups, made up of local people and organisations with knowledge of rural issues, are responsible for allocating the LEADER funding, with support from WSCC:

• Sussex Downs & Coastal Plain Local Action Group covers rural areas of Chichester District, Arun District and Hayling Island

• Central Sussex Local Action Group covers rural areas of Horsham District, Mid Sussex District and Lewes District

All funding must be committed before the UK leaves the European Union.

For more information and details on how to apply, visit the Business West Sussex website or call the LEADER team on 03302 228001.
