Director of Adults’ Social Care and Health

Introduction

A message from our Chief Executive

Thank you for your interest in West Sussex County Council and in joining our Executive Leadership Team.

There could not be a more important time for our organisation. We are on an improvement journey that places residents, customers and partners at the heart of everything we do. In the past two years we have made giant leaps forward - supporting people through the COVID-19 pandemic, making significant improvements in Children’s Services and Fire and Rescue Services, and setting a new four-year corporate plan to sustain these improvements and build upon them.

In my two years as Chief Executive I have been hugely proud of our ongoing response to COVID-19 to support residents, staff, communities and businesses, while continuing our commitment to improving our organisation to design and develop fundamental services for West Sussex residents.

There is still more work to do to make these changes sustainable for the longer term and to build on our achievements. I am looking for a great leader to work closely with me and our Executive Leadership Team to lead and drive the commitments we have made in our council plan, in particular around keeping people safe from vulnerable situations and helping people and communities to fulfil their potential.

West Sussex is a great place to live and work. We are ambitious for the residents, communities and businesses of West Sussex, as well as this local authority and all our partners. We are confident that we can continue to respond positively as we deliver our improvement work. Our future success will rely on your ability to continue our positive collaboration with our staff and our wide range of partners.

If you are someone who has vision, creativity, passion and resilience with an absolute focus on innovative improvement, you will play an important part in writing the next chapter of our organisation’s history. I have no doubt that you will be very proud of what you help us to achieve.

If you have the experience, skills and attitude to make this a success, and you’re prepared for the challenge that lies ahead, I look forward to exploring our journey with you further.
