COVID-19 update: Ceremonies can resume from Monday 29 March.
In order to keep everyone safe during the pandemic, ceremonies in this room will be kept simple. Only the couple and four guests may attend (two of the guests need to be witnesses). If you want a photographer in the room, that would count as one of your guests.
During this period, please bring your own device and speakers to play your chosen music. Please ask your guests to wear face coverings, unless they are exempt from wearing one. The couple do not need to wear a face covering.
The numbers permitted in this room will not increase until social distancing is relaxed, which is expected on 21 June 2021. After this date it is likely that numbers permitted will increase, but will be subject to a full WSCC risk assessment as well as any national guidance and is unlikely to return to pre-pandemic levels this Summer.
The Balcony Room is on the first floor of the West Sussex Register Office, accessible by a lift or stairs.
Ceremonies can take place inside the room or on the open balcony, normally with seats for 30 guests.
The attractive balcony, planted with varied shades of foliage, makes a beautiful backdrop for your photographs. There is also a landscape garden in front of the building. You may also wish to take advantage of the memorial gardens just across the road from the register office for further photograph opportunities.
