|Biography:||Lionel Parsons and his wife Diana met at school and have been married for 47 years. Lionel is a family man and retired in 2010. He is the youngest of a family of eight. He attended South Lancing Infants School and Irene Secondary School and left school in 1960. He attended Worthing College of further education for six years, completed a full electrical apprenticeship and then worked for local companies as an electrician including project engineer for Balfour Kilpatrick Ltd London (Maintenance Division), Electrical Engineer for East Sussex County Council Maintenance and building services engineer for Brighton College of Technology three years.
Having a strong Christian faith, Lionel attended Lancing Tabernacle and was baptised and married there. His is a life-long resident of Lancing. He has a keen interest in steam railways and model railways and in country and wildlife and enjoys time with his family, cycling, walking, swimming and yoga.
Lionel helps fund raise each year for the Chestnut Tree Downs link cycle ride, 2013 is his third year. He also assists each year in street collections for the Blind Veterans UK again 2013 is his third year.
During the early nineties Lionel served five years with Adur District Council. He chaired the Adur warm campaign and was vice-chairman of Environmental Services & Transport. For his commitment to the council and its charity he and his wife were invited to Buckingham Palace garden party, a very memorable experience.
Lionel served on Lancing Parish Council for one year from 2011 to 2012. He has been an active member of the United Kingdom Independence Party since 2002.
Lionel volunteers at Worthing Hospital each week, helping on Botolphs ward, for three hours over the midday lunch period. Lionel also supports Compassion in World Farming. He and his wife enjoy British coach holidays with a local company and are members of the National Trust.
