REQUIRED TEACHING ASSISTANT – 15 hrs Mon – Friday am
We require a Teaching Assistant (TA) with strong literacy and numeracy skills and a professional approach to provide support to our teachers and students in the classroom, covering a variety of learning activities. You will also provide support to the wider school and as an integral member of the team where you will be part of the planning and development meetings each week with the Senco. The closing date for applications is Friday 16th June 2017 at 9.00am. Shortlisting will take place and successful candidates will be contacted thereafter. If you are shortlisted, interviews will be conducted on 22nd June 2017 Title of Post: Grade 3 Teaching Assistant (TA) Responsible to: Class teacher and Special Educational Needs Coordinator Headteacher Governors Relationships: Pupils & Parents Teaching staff Special Needs Co-ordinator Other Support Staff Outside agencies General Duties • To provide classroom assistance to teachers for groups of pupils. • To role model excellent behaviour management strategies • To provide welfare care for pupils • Meet the requirements in the ‘Appendix to all staff Job Descriptions’ • To assist with Midday Meal and break-time supervision when required Specific TA Duties • Liaise with the class teachers and Special Educational Needs co-ordinator about planning and delivery of teaching activities. • Assist individual children/small groups with learning activities and routine assessment tasks. • Carry out practical tasks under the direction of teaching staff (eg preparing materials, clearing away) • Display children’s work and keep the classroom tidy. • Supervise pupils in the classroom, playground, around school and on off-site activities. • Assist with maintaining and filing records on children, this may include entering computer data and printing. • Operate school equipment (eg photocopier, laminator, OHP, computer, video, DVD player, Interactive Whiteboard) • Anything else the head, senior staff or class teacher may reasonably expect. First Aid Duties (for nominated first aiders only) • Acting as a school First Aider (qualified) • Care of sick children and dealing with minor injurie Other Duties All members of the school will foster good relationships and good manners. They will • Set an example and encourage children to develop personal responsibility and acceptable behaviour • Uphold the Christian Ethos of the school and attend worship when required. • Be a good role model for the pupils Health and Safety • Ensure general safety and care is adhered to at all times • Assist with First Aid where appropriate certified training has been undertaken • Be aware of the County Guidelines for Health and Safety and the schools own ‘Health and Safety Policy’ Confidentiality • Refer parents who approach you for information to the class teacher or headteacher • Maintain strict confidentiality about all school matters • Show loyalty to the school community Child Protection and Safeguarding the Welfare of Pupils • Following the schools Child Protection Procedure and Guidelines for Working with Children and Young People • Report any Child Protection issues or concerns to the Designated Person for Child Protection with responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils.
