Preparation for transition Course Tutor; College Site Y11-13 Fixed one year contract

Woodlands Meed are looking to recruit a qualified or unqualified teacher to be course tutor and lead a bespoke one year College Preparation course.

Since experiencing the second lockdown, we have become even more acutely aware that pupils who transitioned to the college in September 2019 have missed a lot of time in school and missed opportunities to prepare themselves for transition to further education.

We have therefore decided to add an additional class for the year 2021 – 2022. This will be a one-year bespoke transition course that will involve visits to colleges and link courses, independence training, work experience and general preparation for adulthood, as well as qualifications in Maths and English and vocational subjects.

The course will cater for a number of Year 11 pupils plus some existing pupils from Years 12 and 13 with the aim of equipping them with the skills to prepare for adulthood.

You will need to demonstrate that you can

• Develop a comprehensive programme designed to prepare pupils for education after Woodlands Meed
• Facilitate College link programmes, College visits, college applications
• Carry out independence training, travel training and general skills needed to prepare for adulthood.
• Work collaboratively with staff from other colleges.
• Work collaboratively with the Deputy Head for Careers and other careers staff to develop this new programme and to facilitate work experience opportunities for pupils.

Woodlands Meed is a foundation special school for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties and complex special needs, including Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. We are also a Specialist School for Communication and Interaction.
