About WSAPC

West Sussex Alternative Provision College (WSAPC) is an educational establishment based across the county on Seven separate sites. We provide education to young people who are not accessing mainstream education. We aim to provide a caring and positive environment where all are valued and supported through a personalised curriculum which challenges and inspires individuals to achieve their potential.

The College is rated as ‘Good’ following a recent Ofsted visit in March 2018 and our focus now, is to move from Good to Outstanding.

What we are looking for:

If you are a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who is able to work independently, with an interest in working with young people and would like the opportunity to join a successful team, then we would like to hear from you.

We are seeking to appoint an Outreach Teaching Assistant to provide keyworker support for Secondary aged children identified as at risk of permanent exclusion in mainstream schools.

You will work as part of the WSAPC Inclusion Team to provide support to children and staff in mainstream schools to develop skills and strategies in order to avoid permanent exclusions.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a role that is diverse and rewarding and to work in a team where initiative and creativity are at the forefront of solution focused practice.

You will be allocated a working base at either WSAPC Burgess Hill or WSAPC Littlehampton, however you will expected to travel to various different schools. The ability and facility to drive is important for this position

You must hold a full, clean driving licence and have access to your own transport.

All successful candidates will:

• Be excellent practitioners with high expectations of all pupils
• Be passionate about child-centred learning
• Have excellent organisational and communication skills and enjoy working in a team
• Preferably have experience of working in two or more key stages
• Be able to make a positive contribution to the ethos of our school
• Have a firm commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities for all

You will have:

• Maths and English GCSE or Equivalent Grade C or above
• A good standard of education across a range of subjects
• Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English & Maths
• Working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes
• Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation
