The Governors and Headteacher are seeking to appoint an outstanding full time SENDCo for September 2024 or sooner, who is self-motivated, inspirational, enterprising and committed to lifelong learning.

Bourne Community College is a unique 11-16 mixed comprehensive Trust school, valued and supported by our parents and the local community. We have been re-accredited with the Unicef Rights Respecting Schools Award ‘Gold’, which very few secondary schools hold in the country and we are on our journey to become outstanding in every way.

Who are we looking for?

• A team player with strong communication skills who can work collaboratively with the Head of the Student Support Centre/Assistant Head responsible for SEND
• Keep and update the SEND register, including the organisation of the statutory assessments for students with more complex needs (EHCPs) and those with Learning Passports/Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• An individual who is diligent and pays great attention to detail
• Someone who can model outstanding inclusive teaching and support colleagues as appropriate

The main objectives of this post includes:
• Raising standards of achievement of children with a SEND
• Adherence to the school’s statutory responsibilities to all students with SEND statements
• To inspire staff to make a positive difference to the lives of students with SEND
• To ensure children with a SEND have full entitlement to the National Curriculum
• Build strong relationships with parents/carers to support students education

This is also an opportunity for a recently qualified SENDCo who may be new to the role and looking for a wider experience as well as an experienced SENDCo. The school has capacity and experienced staff to support an aspiring SENDCo and we would welcome applications for those interested in pursuing a career in SEND.

Salary TMS/UPS with a TLR. This role may be offered at Leadership Pay Scale or Lead Practitioner Pay Scale depending on experience.

If you would you like to work in a vibrant secondary school with improving results and a 'Good' Ofsted report? This could be the post for you!

We would encourage you to visit our community, and welcome you to contact Fiona Menzies, PA to the Head teacher on 01243 375691 or email office@bourne.org.uk

Completed application forms and letter of application (not to exceed two sides of A4) to be returned to office@bourne.org.uk or by post addressed to the Head teacher, Mrs Aparna Sharma.
