Teacher of Art & Design Technology / Subject Leader for Art & Design Technology

MPS / UPS + SEN

Full Time / Part Time

Required September 2024

Following the successful appointment of a new Headteacher in September 2023, the school is currently undergoing a restructure and as such a variety of roles have become available. Cornfield is located in the seaside town of Littlehampton and has 72 students on role, aged between 8 and 16 who have Social, Emotional or Behavioural difficulties.

We are looking to appoint a Teacher of Art & Design Technology / Subject Leader for Art & Design Technology to start in September 2024. The successful applicant will work alongside our friendly and supportive team of professionals who put the students at the heart of what we do.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate robustness & resilience as the role can be extremely rewarding but very demanding. It is important to be able to maintain a level of calm and have excellent communication skills with both adults and young people. It is essential to have good organisational skills, the ability to multitask and act as a role model for students.

The ideal applicant will have recent experience of working with children with SEN, however experience in Social, Emotional and Communication Difficulties would be advantageous. Management experience is also an advantage, as well as being able to demonstrate excellent classroom practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a good school (OFSTED June 2021) that focuses on supporting SEMH students to become more independent and provide them with skills and experiences that will enable them to be successful in life.

This post would be suitable for experienced and recently qualified practitioners wanting to commit to working with challenging students.

Applications are invited from candidates on either TMS or UPS pay scale and visits to the school are strongly advised and encouraged.

Please see Job Description and Person Specification attached.

Completed application forms should be sent to Caroline Furlonger, School Business Manager, at cfurlonger@cornfieldschool.org.uk. Visits to the school can also be arranged by email or by calling 01903 731277.

Closing date: Monday 13th May 2024

Interviews will be held on: Tuesday 21st May 2024

Cornfield School is fully committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and all positions are subject to an Enhanced DBS Check being carried out.
