Waste Strategy

View the Joint Materials Resource Management Strategy for 2005-2035.

As a result of a number of cabinet member decisions, the Strategy for 2005-2035 is currently being reviewed and an updated Strategy will be available later in 2017.

The local authorities within West Sussex are keen to act to promote waste prevention and recycling. We want to make sure that waste, as far as reasonably possible, is recovered and diverted away from landfill.

Legislative requirements will restrict the amount of waste being landfilled in the future. New long-term arrangements need to be implemented in line with an agreed strategy until 2035.
