Sustainability

Find out about our commitment to sustainability in West Sussex and how we are reducing our own carbon footprint.

We are committed to sustainability by promoting change within the County Council as well as providing leadership across the county as a whole.

We adopted a new Sustainability Strategy for the County Council in December 2015.

Our 4 key priorities are to:

  • embed sustainability within our business
  • lead the way in valuing the place of West Sussex
  • realise efficiency savings in the short, medium and longer term
  • work with and influence others to maximise the benefits for West Sussex.

It is a four-year strategy, to reflect the life of the Future West Sussex Plan, but is accompanied by an action plan, which we will review annually.

Reducing our carbon footprint

We are required by the Government to publish an annual report to demonstrate how we are reducing the Greenhouse Gas Emissions from our own estate and operations.
