Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment

How the Minerals Local Plan meets sustainable and environmental requirements.

The Joint Minerals Local Plan must be subject to a Sustainability Appraisal to ensure it is fully consistent with, and helps to implement, the principles of sustainable development. A Strategic Environmental Assessment is also required so that its effects on the environment can be evaluated. Both of these requirements can be satisfied via a single sustainability appraisal process.

Scoping Report

The first stage of the process is the preparation of a Scoping Report. Its purpose is to provide the context and determine the scope of the Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment for the Joint Minerals Local Plan.

Sustainability Appraisal - January 2017

Following consultation on the draft Plan (April to June 2016), further work was undertaken and an updated Sustainability Appraisal has been prepared to supported the Proposed Submission Draft Plan

Previous Sustainability Appraisal - April 2016

A Sustainability Appraisal of options, sites and the draft Plan was produced in April 2016, evaluating the effects the Plan may have on the environment, and takes account of the technical evidence that has been undertaken on sites.
