The Report is focused on the role of schools in supporting improvements to the health and wellbeing of children and young people, although clearly schools do not undertake this task in isolation.
Each of the five chapters in the report includes sections on how schools can support children and young people to improve health, and what others can do to help. Case studies are provided to illustrate and describe good practice.
Healthy, happy children and young people learn better and achieve more. In addition, children and young people who form healthy behaviours are more likely to carry these through into adult life. This has a longer term impact on the health of the population, with resultant savings for health and social care.
