Statement of Community Involvement

View our policy for involving others in the preparation of local plans and supplementary documents.

The County Council's Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) policy identifies how others can be actively involved in preparing the documents to be included in:

The preparation of documents has to comply with the adopted SCI. Failure to comply could mean that an inspector may recommend that a draft document is withdrawn.

Planning regulations require SCIs be reviewed every five years. The last SCI (third review) was published in 2018 and therefore, a fourth review was prepared.

A fourth (draft) SCI was published for a 12-week period to allow comments to be made on its contents. The fourth review SCI was approved by the Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change on 31 October 2023, replacing the third review SCI.
