Our approach to consultations
Your voice matters
We want to see the Council, residents, communities and other
partners, truly working together to prioritise what we do and
having a say over how we do it.
When will we consult?
We will consult people when:
- they may be significantly impacted by a proposal;
- they will be expected to implement a proposal;
- there is a significant public interest or issues are complex;
and
- when there is a legal obligation to do so.
How will we consult?
We will make sure that consultations will be timely, visible and
transparent, so:
- people will have time participate at a time when they can have
an influence;
- the process will be fair and accessible; and
- it will be clear what we want to find out and why, and what
happens next.
We will make sure we:
- hear from a diverse range of people;
- keep the cost and scale of consultations inexpensive and
appropriate;
- meet legal and ethical duties; and
- tell people what has happened as a result.
